 November 5-9 News!

Spelling:
Our spelling words next week will be words with "ei" or "ie" in them. We will be discussing the rules to follow for the "ei" and "ie". The test is Friday, November 9.

English:
We will continue unit 5 next week with writing good sentences.  We have drafted our realistic story and added a dramatic ending.  We will start publication and revising next week.

Reading:
We are still in our Courage unit.  We did more close reading this week and will be taking a quiz on the Dr. Martin Luther King materials we have been discussing and reading about.  It will probably be Wednesday or later in the week depending on how much we get done today and next week.

Social Studies/Science:
We started science this week on energy- the students are enjoying this unit!  We will also start Chapter 6 in Social Studies- on the southeast. Quiz will be on November 13 to identify the states of the southeast on a map, extra points for knowing the capitals too.

Math:
We started unit 3 on fractions and decimals.  We learned about equivalent, improper, and mixed fractions.  The students also have in their math folder a set of fraction pieces that they can use to help with homework.

Important Info:
Thanks to all the moms who helped out with the Halloween party!  The students had a great time!  What a beautiful day we got for it too!

Have a great  weekend!
