General reminders:
1.  Binders should come back and forth to school everyday with your child.  Please check their binders for homework.

April 29 - May 3 News!

Spelling:
 Our spelling words next week will be on contractions and idioms. Our test will be Friday, May 3. 

English/Reading:
We finished up Edward Tulane this week.  We will be starting another unit on poetry next week.

Social Studies/Science:
  We will be having our Chapter 10 test in social studies on Tuesday, April 30.  Students should have brought home their study guide last week.  We are finishing up the energy unit in science next week as well.:)

Math:
  We finished up Unit 6 this week and will have our test on Tuesday, April 30.  We will be doing a review on Monday, the review will be very similar to the test.
 
Important Info:
It was great to see many of you at the Open House on Wednesday!  I hope you enjoyed seeing all your child's hard work! :)
May 7-8- We will have our spring MAPS test.
May 14- field trip to see the Edward Tulane play.

April 22 - April 26 News!

Spelling:
 Our spelling words next week will be on contractions and idioms. Our test will be Friday, April 26. 

English/Reading:
We will be finishing up Edward Tulane next week.  The students have really enjoyed this book.  We have had some good conversations about the book.  We made an Edward Tulane project today that will be hanging up on their lockers.  

Social Studies/Science:
  We are continuing to work on Chapter 10 in social studies on the Southwest region.  We are finishing up the energy unit in science in the next 2 weeks as well.:)

Math:
  You should have seen your child's area and perimeter quiz come home yesterday.  I stapled the quizzes together if I had them redo it for more points, so you can see how they improved.  Next week we will finish up unit 6 and have a tentative unit 6 test on Monday or Tuesday, April 29 or 30.  Will let you know depending on how we do next week.
 
Important Info:

We finished IAR testing!  The students did a great job!  Thanks to all the parents who helped out with making it successful!

April 19- No school
April 24- Open House 6:30-8:00 pm

April 15 - April 19 News!

Spelling:
 Our spelling words next week will be on more latin roots port, form., trans, and flex. Our test will be Thursday, April 18 since we do not have school Friday, April 19. 

English/Reading:
We created our poem for the book we will have published.  I sent home the flyer for you if you want to order a book for you and your child.  Please return those next week so they can be sent in with the final poems.  The students are excited for this!  We will continue reading Edward Tulane next week too.  

Social Studies/Science:
  We started Chapter 10 in social studies on the Southwest region.  We will continue learning about the Southwest over the next couple weeks.  We are coming to an end in our energy unit in science as well.:)

Math:
  We took our area and perimeter quiz this week.  Half of the class did well on it, the other half not as well.  So, we will be doing more reviewing on these two topics.  I will have the students try to improve their grade as well on the quiz before putting it in the gradebook.

Important Info:

April 10-17- IAR testing- We started this week and have 2 more days next week.  Please remember to have your child get a good nights sleep and eat a healthy breakfast on these days!  Please make sure their chromebooks are fully charged and they get to school on time.  :)
April 18- Early dismissal
April 19- No school

April 8 - April 12 News!

Spelling:
 Our spelling words next week will be on the suffixes -el, -al, and -le. Our test will be Friday, April 12. 

English/Reading:
We will be working on a project next week creating a poem about our hero we wrote on.  This poem will go into a class book that will be published!  Parents will get a chance to buy a copy of the published book from our class.  Very exciting and fun!

Social Studies/Science:
  State Look Book grades are coming home today with your child.  So, you can see how they did on it.  Next week we will be starting chapter 10 on the Southwest.  We will have a quiz on the Southwest map on Friday, April 12.  We have been working on why systems fail in the electrical system this week in science.

Math:
  We continue to work on unit 6 this week.  We are continuing to learn all about multiplication and division strategies.  We are also using those strategies to do area and perimeter.

Important Info:
