May 28 - June 5 News!

Spelling:
We have been doing a fun spelling list- all of the class names- first and last name.  We have been playing sparkle, making a wordsearch and really getting good at learning how to spell our classmates names. Next week we will be doing a spelling bee to practice!  Our last spelling test will be Friday, May 31.

English/Reading:
We are almost done reading Love that Dog.  We will finish it next week.  The students have gotten really good at picking out figurative language in the book.  We have had some good discussions about them as well!  We are almost done with our poetry book, I can't wait to see the final products!

Social Studies/Science:
We will finish up the West region next week.  We will not have a test on it, but will do a project instead on a national park of their choice to create a slideshow on.  The students will like this project- great way to end the year!

Math:
We will finish up unit 7 next week and have our final test on Friday, May 31.  The students learned this week finally how to do standard algorithm for multiplication.  They seemed relieved to learn it this way as I am sure you are too! :)  I think this test will help many kids grades because it is not as complicated as some of our other units we have had this year. :)

Important Info:

This is my last blog for the year!  I have enjoyed teaching your children this year!  Have a fantastic summer!  Hopefully the rain will stop once school is out! :)

May 27- No school in honor of Memorial Day.

Have a great, holiday weekend!
