 November 19-30 News!

Spelling:
We will not have a spelling list next week due to the short week.  But, our spelling words the following week will be homographs, words that are spelled the same but have different meanings. The test is Friday, November 30.

English:
We are continuing with unit 5 in English over the next couple weeks.  These lessons are helping us with our writing of realistic fiction stories.

Reading:
We finished studying about MLK and comparing how Jackie Robinson and Malala show courage with a written paragraph the students did this week.  We will start learning about a new courageous person next week- Lou Gehrig.

Social Studies/Science:
We are continuing with our energy unit in science.  Some new words the students have been using and learning about in science are: engineer, function, synthesize, system, electrical device, energy, and electrical energy.  We took our Southeast map quiz today.  They will get those back Monday to see how they did.  We will continue learning more about the Southeast over the next few weeks.

Math:
We are continuing our work in unit 3 on fractions and decimals.  We learned how to add fractions this week.  We will be moving into decimals in the next couple weeks.
