This is what we will be working on the for the week of September 10-14.

Spelling:
Our spelling words next week will be words that have the sounds "aw", "ou", "ow", and "au"  We will study the word patterns and review antonyms as well.  The test is Friday, September 14.

English:
We will continue with the topic of reviewing what makes a good sentence.  We will be looking at the subject and predicate of the sentences.

Reading:
We will be concluding our work on the poem "Casey At the Bat".  We will end with an example of a close reading assessment.  Teachers will model how to find the answers in the text.  These will be how the future assessments are done for reading.

Social Studies/Science:
We had our first map quiz!  The students did a good job preparing for it and got the hardest region done and out of the way! :) We will continue next week learning about the Northeast with more of the geography and resources used in the Northeast.

Math:
We worked hard on multiplication and division strategies this week.  They got their first homework assignment graded and did well on it.  We also dived into factors, factor pairs, and prime and composite numbers.  Remember to check their assignment book for homework.  I have had 1-2 students each day not have their homework finished.

Important Info:
Next week on Monday the 4th grade teachers will be subbed out to do the F&P reading test with each of our students.  It is a quick way for us to get a feel at what reading level each child is at, so we can teach accordingly.  Wednesday-Friday the students will also be given the common assessments in ELA and math.  Then testing will be done for awhile. :)  All these assessments give us good data to teach according to the students ability.

Kelly Miller Circus is Friday, September 14!  Looks exciting!!
Have a great weekend!
