This is what we will be working on the for the week of September 4-7!

Spelling:
Our spelling words next week will be words that end in suffixes  -ible and -able.  There will be vocabulary words that we will be practicing synonyms with too.  The test is Friday, September 7.

English:
We will continue with the topic of reviewing what makes a good sentence.  Focusing on sentence structure.  We will look at statements, questions, commands and exclamations.

Reading:
We will continue our study of reading the poem " Casey at the Bat".  We have started to dig deeper in our close reading of the poem.  We will continue with it next week diving more into vocabulary and a group activity as well.

Social Studies/Science:
We had fun exploring the Social Studies textbook doing our scavenger hunt.  Next week we will be reading in our text about geography of the northeast region.  We will also be having our first quiz on the map of the Northeast region on Thursday, September 6.

Mrs. Olsen's Math Class:
We worked hard this week learning about 4 strategies - a ratio table, an area model, a number line, and an array.  These are all ways to help solve story problems.  The students are adapting to using these strategies instead of just figuring out the answer.  I tell them they are mathematicians!  We will continue with unit 1 next week.  MAPS testing will be on Tuesday, September 4.

Important Info:
No school on Monday, September 3 for the Labor Day holiday.  Enjoy the 3 day weekend!
