March 18- March 22 News!

Spelling:
Our spelling words next week incorporate more greek and latin roots- homo, phobia, auto, and tract. Our test will be Friday, March 22.

English/Reading:
We are reading The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.  The students are enjoying the book and we have been doing some open ended questions for more practice in writing while reading the story, these responses are getting better as we keep practicing them.  We will continue having a quiz after every 2 chapters in the book.

Social Studies/Science:
We will be presenting our Look Book for a state in the Midwest next week.  Many students are finished but some may need to work on at home over the weekend.  We did not get to science this week because of our 2 filed trips and working on the Look Books.  We will do science next week to make up for not getting to it this past week.

Math:
Unit 5 test went well this week.  The students did well on the test.  You should have seen it come home this week.  We have just started Unit 6 this week on multiplication and division strategies.  They took the pre-test and said how hard it was.  I reminded them that every pre-test is hard and they will learn how to do all those problems for this unit. :)

Important Info:

Thanks to all the chaperones who came with us on our field trip to the Museum of Science and Industry!  The students enjoyed it and I believe the chaperones did too!  I sent an email with pictures from the field trips to share with everyone- hopefully you received them.

March 20- we have an author visiting us- Tom Watson- he is the author of the stick dog and cat books.

March 25- March 29- Spring Break week- Have a safe and relaxing spring break with your families!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!🍀

Have a great weekend!
