Kindergarten News in Mrs.Olsen's Room!

  Reading
We read a story this week- From Seed to Pumpkin.  This is a non-fiction story about the pumpkin life cycle.  We got to do a cool nearpod activity on the ipad with this story that the students really enjoyed!.  We learned some new words with the story: relieved and sprouted.

Jolly Phonics
This week we learned the letters oa and ie the actions that goes with them.  Ask your child what sounds they make and what actions go with those sounds. :)  We also learned the popcorn words but and to.  Please practice the words at home.

Math
We have been learning all about teen numbers this week again.  We did math centers where the students had to stamp with numbers 6-10, spin a counter and color a turkey matching a number on the ten frame, math games on the i-pad, roll and trace numbers from 11-20, rainbow trace numbers to 30, counting numbers on a squirrel in a scattered configuration up to 20, and a fall numbers book.

Writing/ Handwriting
We practiced the letter Ee and Ff in handwriting this week.  We made  2 crafts today about the pumpkin life cycle.  Both of those came home.

**Please remember to send in a HEALTHY snack for your child- cookies and treats are not healthy snacks.  It needs to be fruits or vegetables preferably, otherwise crackers or something like that.  They are welcome to bring in a water bottle to drink during the day.  Please bring it filled, we do not fill water bottles during the day.  If they drink it all, then they can get water from the drinking fountain.  Thanks!**

** We had a great time celebrating Veteran's Day this week.**

**Thanks for those of you who came in for conferences this week.  It is always nice to touch base with the parents to see how their child is doing so far in the school year.**

Have a great weekend!
