Kindergarten News in Mrs.Olsen's Room!

  Reading
We read a story this week- Spookily the Pumpkin.  This is a cute story about a pumpkin who is square instead of round.  The students enjoyed it and got to make their own Spookily pumpkin today.  We learned some new words with the story: variety, rare, teased, and fright.

Jolly Phonics
This week we learned the letters ai and the action that goes with it.  Ask your child what sounds they make and what actions go with those sounds. :)  We also learned the popcorn words is and can.  Please practice the words at home.

Math
We have been learning all about teen numbers this week.  We did math centers where the students had to stamp with numbers 11-20, roll 2 dice and color in a pumpkin, match numbers on pumpkins with ten frames, color, count, and glue numbers on pumpkins, a number book using #1-9, games on the i-pad, and an activity where the students needed to find pumpkins and count their seeds  around the room.

Writing/ Handwriting
We practiced the letter Cc and a review page in handwriting this week.  We made a Spookily pumpkin craft today and watched the Spookily movie today.  The students loved it.

**Please remember to send in a HEALTHY snack for your child- cookies and treats are not healthy snacks.  It needs to be fruits or vegetables preferably, otherwise crackers or something like that.  They are welcome to bring in a water bottle to drink during the day.  Please bring it filled, we do not fill water bottles during the day.  If they drink it all, then they can get water from the drinking fountain.  Thanks!**

** No school this Friday and Monday, November 6 and November 9.  Have a great long weekend!**

**I look forward to conferences next week.  Thanks for signing up!  See you next week!**

Have a great weekend!
