Kindergarten News in Mrs.Olsen's Room!

  Reading
We read another non fiction book this week Knowing About Noses.  It was about how animals use their noses in different ways.  The students thought it was interesting and funny!  We learned some new vocab words - prey and object.  During daily 5 this week we did many activities that involved writing CVC, color, and number words and making silly sentences with illustrations.  I will also make this into a book for open house.

Jolly Phonics
We focused on the word family short e this week.  We added four new popcorn words this week- "eat",  "please", "want" and "with". Keep practicing those popcorn books- we have a lot of words now!

Math
We continued to work on measurement this past week and our centers all were how to measure different items with different tools.  We took another subtraction timed test on -1 today.   Next week we will go back to working on addition and subtraction facts and understanding of those two.

Writing/ Handwriting
We worked on some handwriting pages this week.  We worked on lower case c and s.

**Thanks to the Rinaldi, Yurchak, Waitkus and Hines families for donating the wipes, paper towels, and kleenex this past week- I hope we are good till the end of the year!
I hate to ask but we are almost out of glue sticks again- I cannot believe how quickly we went through the ones that were donated not too long ago!  So, anyone who wants to donate glue sticks- it would be greatly appreciated! :)

** Emily Hines was principal for the day this week and had a great time- congrats to her!**

**Remember snack should be healthy, such as fruit, vegetables, cheese, or crackers. If you are sending a juice, make sure it is 100% juice.** Thanks!
