Kindergarten News in Mrs.Olsen's Room!

  Reading
We read a bunch of Dr. Seuss books this week- The Cat in the Hat, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, Wacky Wednesday, Fox in Socks, The Lorax, and Green Eggs and Ham.  We had a lot of fun doing fun things with these stories.  We ended the week by watching the movie- The Lorax- one of my favorite movies! :)

Jolly Phonics
We are practicing writing popcorn words in sentences- great practice for them!  This week we learned about the word family -ed.  We added 3 popcorn words- "this", "that" and "new".  Please practice the popcorn words at home. :)

Math
We finished topic 10 this week practicing composing numbers from 11-20.  We stared topic 11 which is decomposing numbers 11-20.  Centers this week we practiced building teen numbers using tens and ones, made a subtraction book, and made different number sentences to equal 10 using dinosaurs.

Writing/ Handwriting
We practiced the letter Ww and a review page in handwriting this week.  We made a book this week for Luke since he is our star student.

Many of you turned in the St. Patrick's Day project with your child- if you have not please return by Monday, March 9.  Thanks!

Please remember to send in a HEALTHY snack for your child- cookies and treats are not healthy snacks.  It needs to be a 100%juice, fruits or vegetables preferably, otherwise crackers or something like that.

Have a wonderful weekend!
