Kindergarten News in Mrs.Olsen's Room!
Reading
We read some St.Patrick's Day books this week. We did some rhyming activities in our Daily 5 centers this week as well. The past couple weeks I have been using the IPAD I received from the PTO to do some fun games with the students during Daily 5. They love doing this! :) We also talked about the weather in spring and how it can be like a lion or a lamb. We did a craft this week for a lion and next week we will do a lamb. We will then do a writing activity next week to finish the lion and lamb weather activity.
Jolly Phonics
We focused on the word family short i this week. We added three new popcorn words this week- "do", "all", and "there". Keep practicing those popcorn books- we have a lot of words now!
Math
We practiced more of making number sentences this week. We focused a little more on subtraction this week, as well as, making a number sentence using pictures. They seemed to think this was pretty cool and helpful!
Writing/ Handwriting
We wrote a story about a day in the life of kindergarten. The students had fun doing this and are excited for me to share it with my class next year. :) They think it is pretty cool that we would write a book for another class! We still need to finish it up next week.
**Thanks to the Hines family for donating Kleenex and paper towels!** We still could use Kleenex and paper towels, and now I noticed we are almost out of wet wipes!! I noticed many of the kindergarten classrooms are running low on these items, so I am thinking it has to do with all day kindergarten. We are going through supplies a lot quicker than in the past. So any donations are greatly appreciated!! :)
**Remember snack should be healthy , such as fruit, vegetables, cheese, or crackers. If you are sending a juice, make sure it is 100% juice.** Thanks!
